After graduating with a degree in Exceptional Student Education, Sue began teaching at a K-12 special education center for low academic students with social and emotional challenges. Quickly realizing the importance of instructing the whole child, not just the academic side, she designed and implemented a unique academic approach that builds on existing strengths while filling in critical knowledge gaps.
Sue has experience in classroom management and as a one-on-one interventionist. Sue adeptly provides her students with a positive and empowering experience. Using a combination of scaffolded and differentiated instructional approaches, Sue creates a unique and personalized atmosphere of learning. She has been a classroom teacher as well as an academic interventionist making use of her extensive training as a Reading Specialist. Sue is exceptional at creating a safe and creative educational experience that encourages exploration of thought by implementing critical thinking skills. Sue advocates for students who are not able to learn with typical classroom instruction or settings. She teaches with learning strategies that help a reluctant learner feel successful and empowered.
