Comprehensive Evaluation

Private psycho-educational evaluations to discover your child’s learning style

What is a Comprehensive Psychoeducational Evaluation?

A psychoeducational evaluation is a process where a trained professional works with a child, his/her teachers, and caregivers to identify the child’s strengths, weaknesses, and learning style. The goal of a private, comprehensive psychoeducational evaluation is to help us “learn about how your child learns,” so that:

R

You understand and learn your child's strengths and weaknesses

R

Teachers/Professors know how to support them in the classroom

R

Your child knows how to advocate for themselves

The psychoeducational evaluation will provide a clearer understanding of your child’s strengths and weaknesses concerning learning and emotional needs. A private evaluation may result in a diagnosis that can be shared with pediatricians, psychiatrists, and schools to guide treatment and support.

The Psychoeducational Assessment Process

When your child comes in, our evaluation and assessment process typically starts with a psychoeducational assessment. This first session often determines what the next assessment sessions will look like, making it a fluid process to better help your child. We will do different activities to help better understand how your child works with and processes different types of information. We will do puzzles, play word games, chat about what they like to do, and try to figure out why some things are hard and other things are easy.

The goal of the psychoeducational evaluation process is to enhance everyone’s ability to help your child be as successful as possible. We are excited to start working together to learn more about your child’s amazing brain and learning style!
