There are times when you (or your child) may feel anxious every day with no known trigger or event to account for the feeling. When we feel unsettled more days than usual it is important to reflect on how our basic needs are being met; how we are caring for ourselves.
Let’s reflect:
How are you sleeping? Do you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep? How many hours do you need to sleep in order to feel refreshed?
- Address any bedtime routines to reduce the sleepless nights
- Consider a weighted blanket
- Listen to a guided meditation, podcast, or audiobook
- Read about Children and Sleep
How are you fueling your body? Do you eat three meals a day? Are your meals well balanced?
- Consider reducing barriers to balanced eating by having healthy snacks and a weakly meal plan
- Remember we are fueling our body so that we can regulate our emotions
- Read about kids healthy eating plates
How are you exercising? Do you make time for daily physical activity? How often are you out in nature while physically active?
- Think of fun ways to incorporate physical activity into your daily routine
- Include others in your activities virtually or outside in-person
- Enjoy our beautiful weather and take a walk in nature
- Read about how much physical activity children need
